Artist Bio

Candice Byrd-Boney (Cherokee Nation/Quapaw Nation/Osage Nation) received her MFA in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She was also mentored by Cherokee National Treasure Knokovtee Scott in the Cherokee Nation Treasure Master/Apprentice program in 2014-2015. She’s a Native Theatremaker, storyteller, and shell carver who makes her home in Tahlequah, OK with her husband Roy Boney Jr. She has won Honorable Mention and Judge’s Choice awards for her shell jewelry in the Cherokee National Holiday Art Shows.
